The Philosophy of Hegel
Introduction
During the last twenty years of his life, Jose Porfirio Miranda dedicated his time to deepening and maturing his earlier studies of Hegel’s philosophy. His first contact with Friederich Hegel was through other studies of his work. As he wrote his own books he realized a general incomprehension of some of Hegel’s concepts. As Miranda was an expert on the writings of Marx, he understood that some of the Marxist interpretations were adjusted to the particular ends of Marx himself, whereas others were interpreted correctly.
Porfirio Miranda was a renowned exegete and had an affinity with Hegel owing to his extended studies to understand the historical figure of Jesus Christ. Also as Jose was a critic and analyst of society in a wider sense, he therefore made the decision to read the complete works of the philosopher in the original language. He obtained the existing German publications making a full collection for his library and became dedicated in writing down his reflections, deductions and conclusions from his readings.
These eight notebooks are the result of his work. The depth of these documents affords an excellent point of departure for those advanced researchers interested in Hegel and Miranda.
RORAC Foundation’s objective, through the Jose Porfirio Miranda Centre for Philosophic Studies, is to make Jose Porfirio Miranda’s work known and to back research by contemporary philosophers. The decision to scan the manuscripts was based on the idea that the spirit of Jose Porfirio Miranda’s research was to transmit exactly copies of the texts of his collection in a universal format.
